Orioles 6, Twins 0 at Baltimore (night game):
Scott McGregor pitched a five-hitter and Cal Ripken contributed a run-scoring double in the second inning and two-run single in the fourth as the Orioes trimmed the Twins, 6-0. McGregor extended his personal winning streak over Minnesota to seven games.

Red Sox 11, Mariners 2 at Boston (night game):
Jim Rice and Rich Gedman each provided punch in the Red Sox' 11-2 rout of the Mariners. Rice belted a three-run homer in the third inning and a two-run double in the sixth, while Gedman added a three-run homer in the fourth. Carl Yastrzemski got into the act with his sixth homer of the season, the 432nd of his career.

Blue Jays 2, Indians 0 at Cleveland (night game):
Ernie Whitt singled home the first run and scored the second on a single by Damaso Garcia while Jim Clancy tossed an eight-hitter in pitching the Blue Jays past the Indians, 2-0, for his fifth straight victory.

Tigers 11, A's 3 at Detroit (night game):
The Tigers, with Mike Ivie cracking two-run homers in the first and fourth innings, spanked the A's, 11-3, for their eighth victory in succession. Larry Herndon went 5-for-5, with two triples and three singles as Detroit unleashed a 17-hit attack.

Brewers 4, Angels 1 at Milwaukee (day game):
The Brewers scored three runs in the first inning, two coming on Don Money's double, to end the Angels' six-game winning streak, 4-1. Milwaukee completed their scoring in the fourth inning on an unearned run which scored when California catcher Bob Boone mishandled Charlie Moore's bunt.

Cubs 8, Dodgers 3 at Los Angeles (night game):
Fergie Jenkins notched eight strikeouts, drawing within one of the 3,000 mark for his career, in pitching the Cubs to an 8-3 victory over the Dodgers. The Cubs nailed Fernando Valenzuela for four runs in the first inning, two scoring on Leon Durham's double.

Cardinals 6, Padres 3 at San Diego (day game):
A two-run single by Tito Landrum was the key blow in a four-run third inning that sent the Cardinals winging past the Padres, 6-3. Dave LaPoint pitched seven strong innings for St. Louis in his first start of the season, and Bruce Sutter finished up.

Giants 3, Pirates 1 at San Francisco (day game):
The Giants turned two walks, a sacrifice by Johnnie LeMaster, a wild pitch and Joe Morgan's two-run single in the eighth inning into a 3-1 decision over the Pirates. Morgan's single broke a 2-for-23 slump.
