Orioles 9, Angels 2 at California (night game):
The Orioles erupted for seven runs in the ninth inning, when Ken Singleton belted a three-run homer and Gary Roenicke hit a two-run homer, to defeat the Angels, 9-2, and post their first road victory in eight games. The was the first defeat for the Angels in 10 games at Anaheim Stadium.

Brewers 6, Twins 3 at Milwaukee (night game):
Robin Yount tripled and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Cecil Cooper in the sixth inning of the Brewers' 6-3 triumph over the Twins behind the pitching of Pete Vuckovich and Rollie Fingers.

A's 4, Indians 2 at Oakland (night game):
A run-scoring single by Rickey Henderson in the second inning and Dwayne Murphy's fifth homer of the season in the eighth propelled the A's past the Indians, 4-2, for their seventh victory in succession. Henderson stole two bases to being his major league-leading total to 28.

Mariners 7, Yankees 3 at Seattle (night game):
Gaylord Perry pitched the Mariners to a 7-3 decision over the Yankees to become the 15th pitcher in major league history to reach the 300-victory level. Triples by Jim Maler and Al Cowens and a two-run single by Todd Cruz were the key blows in the Mariners' five-run third inning. Perry, at 43 the oldest active player in the majors, limited the Yankees to four hits over the first seven innings of his complete-game effort.

Red Sox 5, Rangers 2 at Texas (night game):
Doubles by Dave Stapleton and Glenn Hoffman and an infield single by Jerry Remy produced two decisive runs in the fourth inning as the Red Sox dealt the Rangers their 12th straight defeat, 5-2.

Dodgers 3, Expos 2 at Montreal (day game):
Pedro Guerrero's run-scoring single capped a three-run first inning that sent the Dodgers on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Expos behind the pitching of Jerry Reuss and Tom Niedenfuer. Gary Carter hit home runs in the second and seventh innings, marking the 15th multiple homer game of his career.

Giants 5, Mets 3 at New York (night game):
Chili Davis broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run double in the ninth to give the Giants a 5-3 uphill victory over the Mets. A three-run homer by Dave Kingman in the first inning was his ninth round-tripper of the season.

Phillies 12, Padres 7 at Philadelphia (night game):
George Vukovich had three singles and a double and drove in five runs to lead the Phillies to a 12-7 victory over the Padres. Bo Diaz collected three singles and a double and drove in two runs, and Manny Trillo went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the Phils' 16-hit attack.
