White Sox 5, Mariners 3 at Chicago (night game):

The rally began when Chet Lemon doubled and scored on a single by Wayne Nordhagen, who then reached second on a single by Jim Morrison. A single by Ron LeFlore plated Nordhagen and sent Morrison to third, from where he came in on a squeeze bunt by Jay Loviglio. LeFlore, who had reached second on the bunt, scored from second on a wild pitch.
Red Sox 5, Tigers 3 at Detroit (night game):

Royals 5, Angels 3 at Kansas City (night game):
Erupting for four runs in the fifth inning, the Royals went on to a 5-3 triumph over the Angels. Willie Aikens began the K.C. fifth with a single and then beat the throw to second on a sacrifice bunt by John Wathan, who reached first on the fielder's choice. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Darryl Motley and came hom on a two-bagger by U.L. Washington. A single by Willie Wilson plated Washington and a double by George Brett chased Wilson home.
Twins 1, Blue Jays 0 at Minnesota (night game):
Four-hit hurling by Brad Havens carried the Twins to a 1-0 blanking of the Blue Jays. The game's only run came when Glenn Adams began the bottom of the ninth inning with a pinch-single and was replaced by pinch-runner Chuck Baker, who reached second on a walk to Hosken Powell and scored on a double by Rob Wilfong.
A's 3, Rangers 0 at Oakland (night game):
Yielding just three hits and not permitting a runner past first base, Steve McCatty lowered his league-leading ERA to 2.20 in pitching the A's to a 3-0 whitewashing of the Rangers. Rickey Henderson cracked a leadoff homer in the first inning and the A's picked up two more runs in the eighth on a squeeze bunt by Rob Picciolo and RBI single by Henderson.
Braves 3, Astros 2 at Atlanta (night game):
A two-run double by Chris Chambliss in the ninth inning gave the Braves a 3-2 triumph over the Astros. Atlanta trailed, 2-1, going into the bottom of the ninth when leadoff batter Claudell Washington was hit by a pitch. After Billy Smith replaced Joe Sambito on the hill for Houston, Washington reached second on a single by Bob Horner, who was taken out for pinch-runner Eddie Miller. Chambliss then hit a line drive up the left-center alley to score both runners. Houston first baseman Cesar Cedeno, incensed at something a spectator shouted at him from the stands after he struck out in the first inning, went into the stands and scuffled with a fan. He was immediately ejected from the game.
Padres 6, Reds 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
The six-hit pitching of Juan Eichelberger enabled the Padres to breeze to a 6-1 triumph over the Reds. The Padres scored twice in the second inning on doubles by Ruppert Jones, Broderick Perkins and Joe Lefebvre and picked up another pair of runs in the third frame on singles by Ozzie Smith, Juan Bonilla, Gene Richards and Terry Kennedy. Perkins delivered run-scoring singles in the sixth and seventh innings.

All Dodgers runs came in the sixth inning. Baker clouted a two-out, two-run homer with Davey Lopes on base via a walk, and Cey smashed a two-run homer following a single by Steve Garvey.
Phillies 10, Expos 5 at Philadelphia (night game):

The Phils tallied three times in the first inning on an RBI single by Keith Moreland and two-run single by Larry Bowa, and picked up another pair in the second on a two-run single by Garry Maddox. Bake McBride hit a solo round-tripper in the fourth, Gary Matthews drilled a bases-empty homer in the eighth and Maddox capped a four-run eighth with a three-run circuit clout.
