With Vincent Gardenia (Frank Lorenzo), Betty Garrett (Irene Lorenzo), Mel Stewart (Henry Jefferson), Victor Argo (Mr. Estrada). The fourth season starts with Betty Garrett and Vincent Gardenia joining the cast as the Bunkers' newest neighbors, Frank and Irene Lorenzo. In the first show, Archie learns the house next door is for sale and embarks on a campaign to keep "undesirables" out of the neighborhood.

NBC preempts regular prime time programming for the second Democratic National Telethon. The 7-hour program features entertainment celebrities and a number of political figures. The telethon will have a political convention atmosphere, complete with speaker's rostrum, banners, flags, signs, with the audience seated behind state placards. Segments include "People to People Press Conference" (Democratic senators answering phone-in questions) and Steve Allen's "Meeting of the Minds" historic sketches.
