[NBC 10:00] America: The Arsenal [special] The 11th episode of Alistair Cooke's film history of America studies this nation's emergence as a military giant. Cooke recounts the traditional American abhorrance of a large military machine - dating back to Colonial times. He also looks at Franklin D. Roosevelt's determination to aid the British and French after 1939, Charles Lindbergh's "fighting foreign wars" speech, World War II itself and the coming of a nuclear age with the atom bomb attack on Japan.
