[CBS 7:30] Preseason Football The Minnesota Vikings meet the Miami Dolphins from the Orange Bowl in Miami. The Vikings have filled a gap at quarterback with the acquisition of Fran Tarkenton from New York to go with an awesome defense led by Alan Page, Carl Eller and Jim Marshall of the league's most feared front four. Miami relies on the passing of Bob Griese to Paul Warfield, a strong running game with Jim Kiick, Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris, and a small but quick defensive corps as the Dolphins attempt another crack at the Super Bowl win that eluded them last year against Dallas.

[NBC 9:00] Liza With A 'Z' [special] The musical comedy talents of versatile singer-actress-comedienne Liza Minnelli are given full rein in a four-part concert showcase filmed before a live audience in New York's Lyceum Theater. The program will offer an array of musical production numbers including "Cabaret", "Liza With a Z" and "God Bless the Child".

With Lucille Ball, Sid Caesar, Jimmy Durante, Bob Hope, George C. Scott. A nostalgic tribute to television's bygone days; saluting the shows that have taken the medium over its 25 years to the present. An all-star cast will reminisce via videotape with selections from old favorites such as Howdy Doody, Show of Shows, Playhouse 90, The Cisco Kid, Boston Blackie, Ozzie and Harriet, Mr. Peepers and many more. Also included will be production numbers featuring "Shanghai" by Russell Arms and "This Old House" by Snookie Lanson.
