[NBC 8:00] The Everglades Examines the present condition of Everglades National Park in Florida, the many threats to its existence, and some of the remedies being taken to prevent the area's destruction. Hugh Downs narrates, and interviews Walter Hickel, former Secretary of the Interior, who was instrumental in defeating plans for a new international jetport to be built near the park. It was considered by many to be a threat to the park's very existence and was typical of many of the direct and subtle dangers to the Everglades caused by the actions of man.
