Staubach (18 of 31 for 220 yards, his third straight 200-yard passing performance) capped a four-play, 71-yard drive with a 22-yard scoring strike to Tony Hill with 1:53 left to give Dallas its winning margin. Hill (five catches for 91 yards) earlier caught a 42-yard touchdown pass. Walter Payton (22 carries for 134 yards) became Chicago's all-time leading rusher, surpassing Rick Casares' career total of 5,657 yards.
