Quarterback James Harris bulled five yards for a touchdown on the final play of the game to lift San Diego past Miami. Rolf Benirschke's PAT gave the Chargers the winning margin. Garo Yepremian's two field goals gave the Dolphins a 6-0 first-quarter lead. In the second quarter, Clarence Duren's first of three interceptions resulted in a Harris-to-Bob Klein TD pass and a 7-6 Chargers lead. The score stood until Norm Bulaich scored from three yards out with just 9:43 remaining. With the Dolphins ahead 13-7, Gary Johnson recovered a fumble at the Miami 33 and Harris led the Chargers in for the score.
