Tony Dorsett scored his first two NFL touchdowns and Roger Staubach figured in two more scores while directing a 444-yard offensive display as the Cowboys upped their record to 2-0. It was their sixth straight win over the Giants. Staubach scored Dallas' first touchdown midway through the first period, three plays after a D. D. Lewis interception. The Cowboys' quarterback went on to complete nine straight passes, including a 10-yarder to Preston Pearson for a 14-0 lead.
