Joe Theismann ran for a first down on a fake field goal from the 49ers' 36 yard line to set up Mike Moseley's winning 39-yard field goal. Delvin Williams provided the bulk of the San Francisco offense, scoring all three touchdowns and rushing for 180 yards. Theismann countered with 302 yards passing, including three scoring passes to Jean Fugett, while Frank Grant caught 11 passes for 200 yards to tie a Redskins record for catches in a game and tie Doug Kotar for the NFC's best receiving performance in 1976.
