Steve Grogan directed a 468-yard offensive attack in which he threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as the Patriots scored more points against the Raiders than any team since 1961. Following Andy Johnson's opening touchdown, Grogan completed touchdown passes to Darryl Stingley of 21 and 15 yards and a 16-yarder to Marlin Briscoe. The second-year quarterback then picked up 12 of his 56 yards rushing on third and fourth-quarter touchdown runs. Ken Stabler hit on 20 of 35 for 225 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown pass to Fred Biletnikoff. Sam Cunningham barely missed a 200-yard offensive performance with 101 yards rushing and 94 yards receiving. Dave Casper caught 12 passes to tie with Lydell Mitchell for the NFL's best receiving performance in 1976.
