Steve Odom returned the opening kickoff 88 yards, setting up the Packers' initial score, and caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from running back Willard Harrell as Green Bay defeated the Lions for its first win. Following a 10-point Packers first quarter, Greg Landry, 12 of 17 for 122 yards, fired touchdown passes to Dexter Bussey and Ray Jarvis for a 14-10 Detroit lead at the half. Lynn Dickey clinched the victory with a two-yard touchdown pass to reserve tight end Bert Askson early in the fourth quarter. Harrell finished with 111 yards rushing in addition to his TD pass.
