Cardinal safety Mike Sensibaugh intercepted a Jim Zorn pass at the goal line as the game ended, spoiling the Seahawks' comeback threat in their inaugural game and giving St. Louis its fifth consecutive opening day victory. After St. Louis took a 23-3 lead in the third quarter, Zorn hit wide receiver Sam McCullum with touchdown passes of 15 and 72 yards and scored himself from the eight to produce the final score. Jim Otis ran for 140 yards and Terry Metcalf rushed for 113 for the Cardinals.
