. . . where the 1970s live forever!

All NFL game summaries for 11/09/1975:

Baltimore spotted Buffalo a 21-0 lead on three touchdowns by O. J. Simpson and then rallied to win with Bert Jones throwing two TD passes and scoring a third. Lydell Mitchell scored three TDs and backup QB Marty Domres, holder on field goals, caught the Bills napping with a scoring pass on a fake FG. Simpson rushed for 105 yards in the first half and wound up with 123 on 19 carries, boosting his season total to 1,128, just ahead of his record 1973 pace. Key interceptions by Stan White and Lloyd Mumphord cut off late Buffalo threats. Mitchell gained 112 yards rushing and caught four passes to increase his AFC-leading total to 37 receptions.

Coach Paul Brown pulled a hipper-dipper play out of the hat to set up the winning touchdown. Ken Anderson passed to Chip Myers who lateraled to Isaac Curtis for a 33-yard gain that moved the ball to the 1 for Boobie Clark's TD plunge. An aborted conversion attempt on a bad center snap after the first Denver touchdown proved to be the margin of defeat. Anderson completed 18 of 26 while the Bengals' defense shut off the Broncos' running game with 92 yards. Steve Ramsey connected with 21 of 40 for 230 yards and one Denver touchdown, only the fifth allowed by the Bengals' pass defense.

After a 7-7 first half, the Dolphins struck for two touchdowns in the third period on a 59-yard pass from Bob Griese to Norm Bulaich and a 50-yard punt return by rookie Freddie Solomon. The victory moved the Dolphins two full games ahead of the Bills in the AFC East and left the Jets in last place. The Vikings defense forced eight turnovers, including five interceptions, and posted its first shutout as undefeated Minnesota rolled to its 11th straight victory over two seasons despite a cold, steady rainfall. Paul Krause picked off two Falcons' passes (his third twin steal of the season) to lift his season total to seven and his career total to 71, second only to Emlen Tunnell's record 79. Chuck Foreman rushed for 102 yards, and Fran Tarkenton's three-yard scoring pass to Foreman was the 281st of his career.

Randy Johnson, who replaced injured Billy Kilmer, marched the Redskins 87 and 62 yards for a pair of fourth-period touchdowns and a victory which kept Washington in a tie with St. Louis for first place in the NFC East. Before leaving in the second period with a right shoulder separation, Kilmer and Frank Grant combined for a 96-yard touchdown pass play, the longest pass completion in the NFL in 1975. Rookie Mike Thomas rushed for 123 yards. The victory marked Washington coach George Allen's 13th consecutive victory over the Giants.
