Mike Thomas, Washington rookie running back, gained 124 yards on 27 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Redskins remained in a second-place tie, one game behind Dallas in the NFC East. The winless Browns, who have lost six straight, trailed only 9-7 at the end of the third quarter but a fumbled punt return by Pete Athas set the stage for Billy Kilmer's clinching touchdown pass to Larry Brown. The Browns' only score came on a 15-yard pass from Brian Sipe, who went the route, to rookie Oscar Roan who caught five passes for 71 yards and a total of 23 in six games.
