The Redskins fell behind 20-7 before linebacker Chris Hanburger fell on a fumble to reduce the deficit to 20-14, then Sonny Jurgensen entered in the third period and directed scoring drives for a pair of field goals and threw a winning touchdown pass of 30 yards to Charley Taylor with 2:13 remaining. Taylor had nine receptions for 155 yards and boosted his career total to 568 for third place on the NFL all-time receiving list. A late Philadelphia march for a possible tie was halted when Ken Stone intercepted a Roman Gabriel pass on the Washington 3.
