Ken Anderson completed 20 of 22 passes and broke two NFL records and then made a game-saving tackle to move the Bengals within a half game of the leading Steelers in the AFC Central Division. Anderson went into the game with a string of eight consecutive completions and increased the total to 16, topping the league record set by Len Dawson in 1967 and equaled by Joe Namath the same year. Anderson's 90.9 percentage for his 20-of-22 topped the record of 86.21 set by Ken Stabler last year with 25-of-29. Doug Dressler caught nine passes and backup RB Ed Williams scored two touchdowns.
