Craig Morton made his first start for the New York Giants and threw a third-down 51-yard pass to Joe Dawkins for a victory over the Chiefs in the first-ever meeting of the two clubs. Len Dawson came off the bench and led an exciting Kansas City comeback that ended with the Chiefs on the 1-yard line as time ran out after Chuck Crist made a game-saving tackle on Larry Brunson. Ron Johnson returned to action and gained 66 yards and scored twice for the Giants. Rookie Woody Green had 66 yards and Ed Podolak 73 yards for the losers, who gained 403 yards.
