The Chargers were third and 10 on their own 2 when Fouts hit Jim Beirne for an 18-yard gain, starting the winning march. Gary Garrison caught eight passes for 116 yards as Fouts hit 13 of 24 behind perfect protection from his offensive line. The defeat snapped a 14-game home field victory string by the Bengals, dating back to December, 1972.
