Oakland won the AFC West in a showdown game with Denver for the division championship. Trailing 14-10 with fourth and 10 on the Denver 49, the Broncos failed on a fake punt and lost the ball. Ken Stabler then took the Raiders in for a touchdown in three plays. Charley Johnson was injured early in the fourth quarter but Steve Ramsey moved the Broncos to within four points, 21-17, on a scoring pass to tight end Riley Odoms.
