The Padres recorded their first victory of the season with a 7-4 decision over the Dodgers. The game was tied, 4-4, when Ruppert Jones drew a two-out walk in the seventh inning and raced home on a double by Sixto Lezcano.

San Diego added a run in the eighth on a fielder's choice grounder and another in the ninth on an RBI single by Terry Kennedy. Floyd Chiffer, who relieved in the sixth inning, was credited with his first major league victory. [The Sporting News]
