A three-run homer by Jerry White climaxed a four-run outburst in the sixth inning that carried the Expos to a 4-1 triumph over the Dodgers, enabling Montreal to take a 2-1 lead in games in the best-of-five series for the N.L. pennant. The winning surge against Jerry Reuss began when Andre Dawson stroked a two-out single. After Gary Carter walked and Larry Parrish delivered an RBI single to tie the game, 1-1, White lined a ball over the left field wall for a three-run round-tripper.

The Dodgers scored in the fourth frame when Dusty Baker hit a leadoff single, went to third on a hit-and-run single by Steve Garvey and came home on a groundout by Ron Cey. Steve Rogers went the route on a seven-hitter. The game was played with temperatures in the mid-forties. [The Sporting News]
