A three-run homer by Jason Thompson capped a four-run third inning, enabling the Pirates to defeat the Mets, 5-3. The Bucs were behind, 2-1, when Omar Moreno began the third with a double, went to third on a bunt single by Lee Lacy and scored on a double by Johnny Ray. Thompson then connected for the circuit.
