First-inning homers by Brian Asselstine and Dale Murphy powered the Braves to a 4-2 triumph over the Dodgers. Jerry Royster began the game with a single and Asselstine followed with a round-tripper. After two outs, Murphy connected for the circuit.

Pedro Guerrero clouted a two-run homer for the Dodgers in the fourth to cut the margin to 3-2, but Atlanta picked up another tally in the fifth when Rufino Linares singled, stole second and came in on a single by Chris Chambliss. [The Sporting News]
