. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Blue Jays, who have never lost a home opener, won for the fifth straight year by beating the Yankees, 5-1. The Jays trailed, 1-0, in the fourth inning when Lloyd Moseby singled with one out and stole second. One out later, John Mayberry walked and Otto Velez stroked a double to plate Moseby. Al Woods then delivered a two-run single.

The Jays put the game on ice in the seventh on a two-run triple by Alfredo Griffin. Roy Lee Jackson, in relief of Jim Clancy, induced Bobby Murcer to bounce into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
