Three hits and three RBIs by Bob Watson moved the Yankees closer to clinching the East Division title with a 7-3 victory over the Indians. The Yanks scored three times in the third inning on an RBI single by Bucky Dent and two-run double by Watson.

They added three more runs in the fifth with five straight hits, including run-scoring singles by Watson and Lou Piniella and a double by Reggie Jackson, who drove in his 100th run of the season. [The Sporting News]
