Dividing a doubleheader, the Brewers won the lidlifter, 2-1, and the Red Sox captured the nightcap, 7-0. The first game was tied, 1-1, going into the bottom of the eighth inning when Don Money drew a one-out walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Ed Romero. Romero advanced to second on a single by Cecil Cooper and scored the winning run on a single by Gorman Thomas.

Fred Lynn drove in four runs for the Red Sox in the second game with two homers and a sacrifice fly to support the five-hit pitching of Steve Renko and Bob Stanley. [The Sporting News]
