Driving in four runs with a homer and double, Richie Hebner led the Mets to an 8-3 decision over the Cubs. Hebner drilled his round-tripper in the first inning following a walk to Lee Mazzilli.

In the fifth, Elliott Maddox and Mazzilli singled and both scored on a double by Hebner, who came in on a single by John Stearns. A single by Doug Flynn added another run. [The Sporting News]
