Larruping four pitchers for 16 hits, the Orioles posted their seventh consecutive victory, romping over the Red Sox, 16-4. A two-run homer by Roenicke got the Birds rolling in the second inning.

They scored five times in the fifth and added six more runs in the sixth stanza, the big blow being the first career grand slam by Rick Dempsey. Al Bumbry drilled a solo homer in the same frame.
