Three homers, including the game-winning blast by Manny Trillo with a man on base in the ninth inning, enabled the Phillies to defeat the Braves, 6-4. After the Phillies took a 2-0 lead, Dale Murphy tied the score with a homer following a single by Bob Horner in the fourth inning. Greg Luzinski sent the Phillies ahead again with a solo shot in the fifth, but the Braves pulled even with a circuit clout by Barry Bonnell in the sixth.

Mike Schmidt hit his 42nd homer in the seventh to put the Phillies in front once more. Trillo's round-tripper in the ninth then proved decisive when the Braves came back with one run in their half of the ninth. [The Sporting News]
