Getting big pitching and big hitting, the Orioles swept a doubleheader from the Twins, 4-0 and 7-4. Scott McGregor unfurled his second shutout of the season in the opener. The Orioles scored once in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Al Bumbry and twice in the fourth on a triple by Doug DeCinces

Eddie Murray clouted three homers in the nightcap and drove in all seven runs. The Bird first sacker connected with two mates aboard in the fifth inning, with one man on base in the seventh and again with one man on in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
