A three-run outburst in the ninth inning lifted the Braves to a 5-2 triumph over the Phillies. With the score tied, 2-2, Rowland Office led off the Atlanta ninth with a single and Pepe Frias beat out a bunt.

On a sacrifice by Bruce Benedict, Phillie first baseman Pete Rose threw too late to third on a force attempt and the bases were loaded. One out later, a sacrifice fly by Jerry Royster scored Office. After a walk to Gary Matthews, a single by Jeff Burroughs produced two more runs. [The Sporting News]
