Alex Trevino and Frank Taveras each drove in three runs and Lee Mazzilli drilled a two-run homer and scored five times as the Mets routed the Braves, 18-5. Mazzilli's circuit clout came in the first inning.

The Mets built a 7-0 bulge in the second on a three-run double by Trevino, an error by Brave first baseman Dale Murphy and a run-scoring double by Ed Kranepool. The Mets scored five more times in the eighth, highlighted by two-run singles by Taveras and John Stearns. [The Sporting News]
