The Yankees defeated the Rangers, 3-2, as Oscar Gamble hit a homer and drove in the winning run with an eighth-inning single. The score was 2-2 in the eighth when Willie Randolph began the winning surge with a two-out single and stole second. Gamble then hit a liner to right-center and Randolph scored.
