The two-hit pitching of Rich Wortham enabled the White Sox to defeat the Yankees, 5-1. The White Sox decided the outcome with three runs in the second inning. Chet Lemon singled, moved to second on a walk to Claudell Washington and scored on a single by Greg Pryor.

Washington also came home on the play when Yank second baseman Willie Randolph threw wildly trying to catch him at third. Two outs later, a single by Mike Squires plated Pryor. [The Sporting News]
