Jim Rice drove in five runs on a pair of homers as the Red Sox routed the A's, 16-4. The Red Sox piled up five runs in the first inning. Rice belted a round-tripper following a two-out walk to Fred Lynn. After singles by Carl Yastrzemski and Bob Watson, Carlton Fisk connected for a three-run circuit clout.
