The Giants won the opener of a doubleheader, 8-6, but the Expos pounded out a 15-5 triumph in the nightcap. Bill North sparked the Giants in the first game, driving in three runs with a leadoff homer in the first inning and a two-run double in the fourth. Darrell Evans clouted a solo round-tripper in the fifth.

In the second game, the Expos sent 10 men to the plate in the fourth frame, when they scored five runs, and 10 more to bat in the fifth, when they added four more. Ellis Valentine, who had a homer in the lidlifter, led the 18-hit attack with three hits, including a homer. [The Sporting News]
