The Astros ended their seven-game losing streak by defeating the Cardinals, 3-2. The Cards counted their pair, one unearned, in the sixth inning before the Astros came back to tie the score in their half.

Terry Puhl singled and was forced by Craig Reynolds. Jose Cruz singled, sending Reynolds to third. Cruz then stole second for the Astros' 100th theft of the season and both runners scored on a single by Enos Cabell. The winning run followed in the seventh when Puhl doubled and Reynolds singled.
