Rick Honeycutt fired a three-hitter as the Mariners whitewashed the Twins, 4-0. The Mariners grabbed the lead in the third inning when Larry Cox walked, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on a single by Willie Horton.

They added another marker in the fourth when Leon Roberts doubled, advanced to third on an error and tallied on a groundout. The final pair counted in the ninth on a run-scoring single by Horton and sacrifice fly by Tom Paciorek. [The Sporting News]
