. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Cubs pushed across two runs in the fifth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and gain a 3-1 victory over the Expos. Rick Reuschel drew a one-out walk in the fifth and moved to third on a two-out single by Scot Thompson.

A double by Bill Buckner scored Reuschel and Thompson when catcher Gary Carter's pickoff attempt sailed into left field. Bruce Sutter took over in the eighth and retired the last five batters in order to record his 18th save. [The Sporting News]
