A three-run uprising in the sixth inning carried the Reds to a 5-4 triumph over the Astros, ending Houston's six-game winning streak. After Harry Spilman led off the Reds' sixth with a pinch-single, Ken Griffey and Cesar Geronimo bunted safely. On Geronimo's bunt, third baseman Enos Cabell threw wildly to first, enabling Spilman to score.

Joe Morgan was walked intentionally and, one out later, Dan Driessen walked to force home the tie-breaking run. Ray Knight then plated the third tally of the frame with a sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
