Jerry Royster, who scored the Braves' first two runs, knocked in their next three with a bases-loaded double in the eighth inning to beat the Dodgers, 5-2. The Dodgers tied the score at 2-2 in the seventh when Reggie Smith doubled and Ron Cey homered, but in the Braves' eighth Joe Nolan doubled, Glenn Hubbard singled and Biff Pocoroba, batting for Rick Matula, walked to load the bases, setting the stage for Royster's game-winning hit.

Matula, the Braves' rookie righthander, allowed only four hits and beat the Dodgers for the third straight time with the help of Gene Garber, who pitched the last two innings and picked up his 15th save. [The Sporting News]
