A pinch-hit homer by Darrell Evans leading off the ninth inning gave the Giants a 6-5 decision over the Braves. The Giants had taken a 5-0 lead in the first on a leadoff homer by Bill North, bases-loaded walk to Hector Cruz, infield out by Johnnie LeMaster and two-out single by Marc Hill. The Braves scored three runs in the sixth, another in the seventh and tied the contest in the eighth on a fielder's choice grounder by Pepe Frias. [The Sporting News]
