Hurling his first major-league complete game, Rick Matula pitched the Braves to a 4-2 triumph over the Dodgers. The Braves sent 10 batters to the plate and pounded out seven straight singles in the fourth inning.

With one out, Gary Matthews singled, stole second and scored on a single by Rowland Office. Singles by Bob Horner and Jeff Burroughs loaded the bases and Joe Nolan followed with a two-run single. After Glenn Hubbard singled, Pepe Frias delivered a run-scoring single. [The Sporting News]
