. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Sending 10 men to bat, the Phillies scored six runs in the eighth inning to gain a 9-3 victory over the Reds. Mike Schmidt drew a leadoff walk and, after a sacrifice, Bake McBride was passed intentionally. Schmidt and McBride each stole a base on successive pitches before Bob Boone drove them home with a double to break the 3-3 tie.

Tim McCarver hit a pinch-single to plate Boone. After an intentional pass to Pete Rose, Larry Bowa singled, driving in McCarver. Garry Maddox doubled for two runs to cap the outburst. [The Sporting News]
