The Braves and Mets played to a 1-1 tie in a game that was delayed twice by rain for a total of two hours and finally was suspended because of a prearranged time limit so the Mets could catch a flight to Houston for their next series. The contest was resumed August 27.

The Mets scored their run in the fourth inning on singles by Lee Mazzilli and Richie Hebner and a safe two-out bunt by John Stearns. Gary Matthews homered for the Braves' tying run in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
