. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Pete Rose drew a walk with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, forcing in Manny Trillo, to give the Phillies a 4-3 victory over the Reds. Trillo, back in action for the first time since breaking his left forearm May 3, reached base with a double and pinch-hitter Greg Gross followed with a safe bunt. Bob Boone then drew a pass to load the bases before Rose walked on four pitches. The Reds had homers by George Foster and Johnny Bench. [The Sporting News]
