A three-run rally in the top of the seventh inning carried the Giants to a 7-4 victory over the Pirates. The Giants trailed, 4-3, entering the seventh, when Jack Clark reached first base on an error. After Willie McCovey drew a walk, Bill Madlock and Darrell Evans followed with run-scoring singles. Clark belted a solo homer for insurance in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
