. . . where the 1970s live forever!
In a one-man batting show, John Ellis drove in six runs with two homers and a double to power the Rangers to a 7-1 victory over the Brewers behind the two-hit pitching of Fergie Jenkins. Ellis homered in the first inning following a single by Al Oliver and hit for the circuit again in the sixth after another single by Oliver, who gave way to pinch-runner Billy Sample. Ellis then added two more RBIs with his double in the eighth.

Jenkins yielded a first-inning single by Cecil Cooper and did not give up the Brewers' second hit until Jim Gantner tripled in the seventh and scored on an infield out by Cooper. Johnny Grubb singled for the Rangers in the ninth to extend his batting streak to 20 games. [The Sporting News]
